From restructure to reinvention: The Molecule2Market story
Where it all began
When Robin and Anne first met, they were colleagues in the in-house clinical research department of a large multinational pharmaceutical company. Robin’s nursing background and Anne’s research expertise kept their focus crystal clear: achieving the best possible patient outcomes.
Spotting a critical gap
During a major company restructure, they began to see the industry from a different perspective. One that revealed a critical gap in the CRO market. Many sponsors, particularly smaller biotech companies, were struggling to find a partner that combined deep expertise with true agility. What was missing was a boutique CRO, one that could provide highly experienced clinical research professionals to manage trials across all phases without the bureaucracy of a large organisation.
The vision for a new kind of CRO
They envisioned a CRO where clients could speak directly with senior management at any time, where cost and staffing were transparent, and where every trial was run to the highest standards by experts at the top of their field, and always with the patient at the heart of the process. That vision became Molecule2Market.
Supporting early-stage bios
From day one, Molecule2Market has been a lifeline for early-stage biotech companies, organisations with limited funding, no in-house trial infrastructure, and a pressing need for local knowledge. While large CROs often overlook these clients, Robin and Anne built a model that delivers tailored, cost-effective solutions to help even the smallest players bring cutting-edge therapies to market, giving Australian patients early access to life-changing treatments.
A people-centred culture
Another core mission for both founders was to create an organisation that actively nurtures its staff. Supporting their growth, retaining their expertise, and helping them remain in the industry they love. Having seen exceptional talent lost to inflexible working conditions and the challenges of different life stages, they understood the value of a supportive, adaptable workplace. Talent retention and mentoring are not just part of Molecule2Market’s culture. They are central to the success of its clients, the advancement of science, and ultimately, improved patient outcomes.
Milestones and growth
Since signing its first client, Roche, in 2012, Molecule2Market has grown from a two-person team into an award-winning CRO with an international presence. The company reached a significant milestone in 2017 by joining AICROS, strengthening its global collaborations, and in 2022 expanded further by opening a US office. In 2023, Molecule2Market broadened its services to include auditing and medical writing while also appointing a senior management team comprised of two Clinical Operations Managers and a QA Manager. That same year, the company’s achievements were recognised with the Governor of Victoria Export Award for Small Business, a distinction it earned once again in 2025. By this point, the team had grown to 21 employees across Australia, the US, and New Zealand, positioning Molecule2Market as a dynamic and fast-growing contributor to the global clinical research industry.
A global partner of choice
Today, Molecule2Market’s unique blend of expertise, agility, and values makes it the partner of choice for biotechs, pharmaceuticals and medtech organisations navigating the complex journey from molecule to market. For Robin and Anne, the mission remains exactly as it was on day one: to run trials with excellence, integrity, and a steadfast commitment to the patients who are waiting for better treatments.
