From nursing to clinical research

Emma began her career as a registered nurse before transitioning into clinical research, where she worked on Phase I, first-in-human clinical trials at a dedicated Phase I clinic.

“I was drawn to how clinical trials bridge scientific discovery and real-world medical practice. Clinical research plays a critical role in translating innovation into safe and effective treatments for patients.”

She went on to work as a Study Coordinator in a public hospital, followed by senior roles across pharmaceutical companies and contract research organisations (CROs), including Clinical Research Associate, Senior CRA, Study Start-Up Specialist, and Project Manager.

Emma’s role as a consultant at M2M

As a consultant at M2M, Emma is responsible for overseeing all aspects of clinical study conduct in line with sponsor agreements, regulatory requirements, and M2M standard operating procedures.

Her role includes:

• Managing end-to-end study delivery
• Coordinating training for assigned M2M study personnel
• Maintaining compliant study documentation
• Managing third-party vendors
• Acting as the primary point of contact for sponsor communications
• Proactively identifying and escalating risks that may impact subject safety or project continuity.

Emma also provides regular progress updates to senior leadership, ensuring transparency, accountability, and consistent study oversight.

“Every decision I make is grounded in patient wellbeing — from study design and conduct through to data review and compliance. Listening to patient feedback is essential, because the success of clinical research ultimately depends on how well we serve the people at the centre of it.”
